Returning to a previous client is the ultimate compliment, and we’ve just completed our second major project for a fantastic family in Bentley Heath, Solihull. This wasn't your average loft conversion; it was a technical challenge that required a truly bespoke structural solution.
The Challenge & Solution
To ensure the new master suite didn't feel "cramped," we took the bold step of lowering the existing first-floor ceilings. This complex structural work gained us the crucial head height needed to transform a dark attic into a spacious, airy sanctuary.
To maximise the internal footprint, we added a full-width rear dormer, creating a stunning new bedroom that has completely changed how this family uses their home. The exterior is built to withstand the elements while looking incredibly sharp.
We used a high-performance single-ply membrane for the dormer roof - a material known for its incredible durability. For the aesthetic finish, we opted for Anthracite Grey weatherboard cladding and matching Anthracite windows, providing a modern, maintenance-free finish that contrasts beautifully with the original brickwork.
It was a pleasure to be back on this street, especially having previously completed the extension and loft conversion for the neighbours! There is no better feeling than seeing a "UY S" street scene take shape.
