I had a fantastic experience with Mike and his team at Use Your Space Design & Build. From the very start, they were professional and thorough, providing detailed brochures that helped me visualize the project. The entire process was smooth, and the team delivered exactly what I was hoping for with my garage conversion. The simplest review I could make is to say that I agree with all the reviews on here. Thank you, but I won’t!

However, the story behind the job is simple – a replacement porch with the removal of the original inside door to make the hall larger. The PVC porch and front door were completely removed and a replacement brick frontage was built in its place. Security was an issue but by discussion it was resolved such that we were able to carry on at home during the works. When the original (“inside”) front door was removed, a problem was found with the floor levels which had been hidden by the original front door. This was quickly resolved by the team. During the alteration to the existing floor, they installed a temporary screen to prevent dust from circulating within the rest of the hall and stairs.

Communications were continuously available to and with us by clever use of a (free) social media platform which gives peace of mind for those who may have questions about anything to do with the works in hand. As an Engineer myself, I prepared a small snag list which by the team covered in the finishing process. Needless to say, all works were carried out professionally under the leadership of the boss Mike even extending to sub-contractors for other related works. The whole job has been completed to our satisfaction reflecting the professional and efficient methods of working by the team as a whole. Excellent Loft Conversion by Use Your Space

Mike and his team recently completed a loft conversion for us, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, they were professional, friendly, and efficient. They kept the workspace tidy, clearing up after themselves each day.

Mike maintained excellent communication throughout the project, providing regular updates and photos so we could see the progress, even when much of the work was out of sight. When you appoint a team of builders you are concerned they might not do a good job despite doing your homework but we need not have worried about Mike and the team, from week one they applied themselves to our conversion. There was a high standard of workmanship and input at every stage. Mike knew all about modern techniques and standards and we felt confident in his superior knowledge. I am quite picky with an eye for detail and demanding but when necessary the team were willing to go that extra mile to undertake anything I asked or on the rare occasion any small issues I wasn’t 100% happy with. The end result is brilliant and I would happily recommend to anyone, it’s so hard to find a team that are so conscientious and willing to make the customer happy which the UYS team do. The project was made all the more difficult being such an old building with lots of different form and shape to the structure. It was worth every penny seeing how happy my children are every time we go in the room. The overall brief for the room was to be a gym area for myself, a family room and a social hub for the house so very much multi purpose, everything undertaken was nailed to how I envisaged in my mind when we first thought about doing the work. The communication was fantastic from day 1 with a what’s app group set up with every detail discussed and confirmed before the particular stage was completed, which is very refreshing as we have suffered in the past from being kept in the dark but not at all did we feel like this with Mike. We won’t hesitate to contact in future for more work.

Fist class service from Mike and the team. Used them to remove a chimney brest in our main bedroom, which is a messy job. The team kept the place spotless during the removal. Full room was re-plastered and new lighting installed. No overrun on the duration on the works. Competitive price. will be looking to use the company for our next project.

Update. We are now on our 2nd project with Use Your Space. We have now had our boys bedroom re-plastered and had the ceiling covered as it had an artex finish.

Mike managed to get the job done at short notice, as we wanted to bring the job forward to coincide with half term, and the kids would be away for the week. Job done in 3 days, and to an exceptional standard. Painting still ongoing but I like doing that myself. Carpet being fitted on 11.11.24

UY S have recently completed a large loft conversion, with side dormer on our 1930’s bungalow in Earlswood. We have been extremely impressed with Mike and his brilliant team. Considering the size of this project, and the fact that we (a family of 5) lived and worked at home during the works is testament to the professionalism and reliability of this team. Mike ensured we were kept up to date of all work timelines, and any issues that occurred ( which are inevitable in any build) were met with options and solutions. This is the second time that I’ve used Mike and the Use Your Space team for a house renovation. They are a great team to work with - Mike and all the lads are friendly, polite and courteous. You’re kept informed all the way through the build of progress and any issues. Mike is really responsive and always replies to messages - and pops round as and when needed. The building work has been done to a high quality - we are delighted with the result AND the lads cleaned everything thoroughly (inside and out) when they left … and completed the snagging list with zero chasing! Overall we’re delighted and wouldn’t hesitate to use Use Your Space again.

UYS has done a large rear extension to garden on our property including structural alterations to existing building to maximise space.
UYS has done it with perfection and with a wow effect. I believe UYS are one of the best builders and I think that going with UYS was our most important and best decision.

Use Your Space are an excellent builders, Premium quality of build, materials, service and support that too at fair price. Specially when this market in UK is so much crowded with all sorts of builders from shabby to extremely expensive ones, UYS in our opinion are right choice.

Mike gave us very detailed, very fairy priced and transparent quote for our rear extension which was respected till the project finish. Mike's USP has been honesty in quotation and throughout the execution. Even though the prices of materials, steel etc. skyrocketed due to corona in the industry, Mike kept us insulated from all these respecting his quote which I don't think any other builder would have done.

UYS started works on start date as promised. Extension works were finished in reasonable time as promised at quotation stage. Each day they were on site on time around 7:30 to 8:00. Every one on site were well informed, co-operative, respectful and lovely guys which was very important as the works were happening alongside us living in the house. Every day they would leave the site clean and sorted.

Mike's planning i.e. ordering, delivery, installation is spot on. All material were delivered at right time, well taken care off. Mike gets in details of each build item and ensures that work is done to correct standards and quality.

UYS ensured that all aspects of building regulations drawings from Architect were followed. UYS quality of build and selection of materials is excellent. They didn't select cheap suppliers/materials. Every material on our extension was branded. For example, I have seen some builders using rusted steel beams etc. but UYS used painted, proprietary TATA steel beams. It was same across every other materials as well used such as windows, doors, rooflights etc. Each and every tradesman employed by UYS (Electrician, Plumber, Plasterer, roofer, etc.) were very good at their jobs and co-ordinated very well amongst each other.

We had few snags which were resolved by Mike even after completion and all payment. This is something that stands out and a big cheers to UYS's on this front. Even our neighbours were impressed with UYS's work and ethics throughout and after completion.

Overall, we are very happy and proud of our decision to go with UYS and would definitely recommend to anyone for their extension. Just be patient as the work commences.

Mike in my opinion is a gem of person and a fantastic dependable builder.

I am delighted to say that we are really pleased with our new extension - the design is far more creative than we could have hoped, it absolutely makes the best use of our space, and has completely changed our lifestyle. The kitchen is now the hub of our house and we virtually live in it most of the time. Mike and the team worked to a planned schedule and were very tidy and polite - no unwanted surprises! We would highly recommend Mike and the team and would definitely approach him again for any other projects we are planning in the future.

Having had building works carried out previously, Mike and UYS' approach to Customer Service is a breath of fresh air, going above and beyond expectations of a building company.

Mike was responsive to our initial enquiry for a quote for a Dormer Extension, knowledgable and friendly whilst quoting and not pushy at all in his approach. He clearly runs his business with complete professionalism, where you as the customer feel important and valued. Little things like a what's app group where you receive daily updates with photos and have the ability to text (and get responses) throughout the entire build process are not only reassuring but also really helpful. Being kept up to date and informed at every step is something that goes without saying with UYS - not the norm with other building companies, speaking from experience!

Excellent from start to finish. Mike and team converted my garage into a home office. Probably not their biggest job but one that I will really benefit from. When I first met Mike, he came across as professional, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and trustworthy. And he and his team lived up to every commitment they made at the outset - first contact to completion took less than 8 weeks, everyone I worked with was friendly and delivered high quality work in a considerate way, and every question I had throughout the process was answered promptly. This was quite a big job including fitting new steels, dormer roof, new bathroom, reconfiguring first floor to fit new staircase.
Mike and all his team carried out the job to a very high standard and did so in a very professional manner.

Kitchen and first floor extension - I had not had any major house work done before so this was all new to me. Mike and his team put me at ease from day one and were always on hand to answer my questions and give me advice. It was a really difficult project due to the house having no side or rear access so all materials had to be carried through the house, however the team worked tirelessly through extremes of weather and of course the pandemic - showing true professionalism at all times. Mike and the team converted our garage and built us a new utility. The work was completed to a high standard. Would recommend them to anyone looking for some building work.

We have now used UYS twice, first for our loft conversion in 2018 and more recently they extended our kitchen to create a living area. They were so helpful at the planning stage, talking through ideas and putting us in touch with an architect who created the drawings ready to submit to planning. Throughout the jobs, Mike and his team made the process as easy as possible and completed within the time frame given. Any requests we had, were never an issue and Mike was always very clear on costings before any changes were made. Mike and his team have just finished our loft conversion, and from day one I was really impressed. Mike goes out of his way to make sure his clients are happy and understand the steps to the project, and the professionalism and attention to detail by the whole team was second to none. We were recommended Mike and the team by a friend. From day 1 it became apparent that Mike was very professional and would go out of his way to keep his clients happy. They certainly delivered throughout the build of our upper floor extension.

His project manager Mick kept the job flowing and obviously had a fantastic relationship with all the teams and subbies. There was always somebody on site at 730 which my retired neighbour commented on. Everyone was polite and always cleaned up where possible.

Mike and his team have been amazing. Started work on a wrap around extension and whole house refurb 3 years ago which was complete in 6 months.
