Rear Extension in Dorridge, Solihull
This rear extension project Balsall Common was to make the existing rear reception room larger so the rear wall was removed to allow the new extension and existing space to flow together.
The roof on this particular project included the use of cranked steel beams to create a hipped roof flowing into a flat roof allowing the introduction of a plateau roof light to fill the room and existing space with lots of natural light and create a wow aspect.
Aluminium bi folds were installed to allow access to a large area of existing decking and view to the garden and allow access for entertaining. Five slit windows were installed to allow further light into the new space and create a really stunning design feature with a centrally placed feature fireplace.
New flooring throughout and designer radiators were installed to colour match with the new aluminium bi-fold doors.
y a parapet wall, installation of a 4 metre by 2 metre aluminium roof lantern and the roof surface finished in high performance fibreglass coating.
Internal alterations included removal of the ground floor rear wall to allow full use of the new space, formation of the utility room and study.

Having had building works carried out previously, Mike and UYS' approach to Customer Service is a breath of fresh air, going above and beyond expectations of a building company.Mike was responsive to our initial enquiry for a quote for a Dormer Extension, knowledgable and friendly whilst quoting and not pushy at all in his approach. He clearly runs his business with complete professionalism, where you as the customer feel important and valued. Little things like a what's app group where you receive daily updates with photos and have the ability to text (and get responses) throughout the entire build process are not only reassuring but also really helpful. Being kept up to date and informed at every step is something that goes without saying with UYS - not the norm with other building companies, speaking from experience!Russ and Josh, that we had working at our house were polite, friendly, hard working and most importantly, respectful and tidy, throughout the whole process.We are over the moon with the Dormer and En Suite that UYS have created for us - we would highly recommend them.

Fist class service from Mike and the team. Used them to remove a chimney brest in our main bedroom, which is a messy job. The team kept the place spotless during the removal. When I first met Mike, he came across as professional, knowledgeable, keen and trustworthy and he and his team lived up to every commitment they made. First contact to completion took less than 8 weeks, work was completed to a high quality and in a considerate manner and everyone who I met was friendly, hard working and committed and delivered high quality work. Mike and Co. are amazing people. Haven't used them for building jobs but on the first day of lockdown they helped me out massively. I was broken into, had my car stolen and was unable to get to work as a nurse for the NHS. I needed my garden gate securing which was damaged durjng the break in. They came to do this little job for me, which is a job i beleive they dont normally do, as a final job before Mike's business was closing during the COVID-19 crisis. They maintained safety and social distancing and even though I offered, would not accept payment. This was so appreciated, shows what lovely, genuine people we still have in this world, amazing and would highly recommend them all. Thanks again!! 👍👍

Mike impressed us from the start with his knowledge upon quoting. The single storey extension was carried out with few issues and now provides a lovely space for myself and my family. We did have a few snagging issues post completion but Mike has come back and fixed these to our satisfaction

We have now used UYS twice, first for our loft conversion in 2018 and more recently they extended our kitchen to create a living area. They were so helpful at the planning stage, talking through ideas and putting us in touch with an architect who created the drawings ready to submit to planning. Throughout the jobs, Mike and his team made the process as easy as possible and completed within the time frame given. Any requests we had, were never an issue and Mike was always very clear on costings before any changes were made. Both extensions are better than we could have ever imagined and we are so pleased with the quality of the finish. The quality of work is fantastic and we found very few snags. The snags we found were dealt with in a timely manner.
Although having building work going on can be stressful, UYS made things less painful. They offered advice and recommendations. The payment structure and way they manage variations brings comfort financially too.

Mike and his team have been amazing. Started work on a wrap around extension and whole house refurb 3 years ago which was complete in 6 months. The team worked tirelessly to complete in time for my mother to move in. 3 years down the line we are still delighted with the excellent finish and Mike and team are still on hand if we need them as we adapt our home to accommodate my aging mother. Mike and his team are just nearing completion of an amazing project on our house. Their attitude to work is fantastic. The speed and quality of build has been brilliant. Mike has kept us really well informed all the way though and the app he uses to manage the project is fab.
